FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What kind of people do you tend to work with?
Most of my clients are intelligent, successful women who are experiencing some trouble in their life (relationship difficulties, life transitions, sadness, anxiety) or feel ready to move beyond some past issue or limitation to create a more fulfilling life. I also have extensive experience and training assisting children, teens and families struggling with; divorce, remarriage, loss and grief among others. I work very effectively with children and teens who are showing signs of low self-esteem, anger, excessive sadness/worrying and with behavioral problems (school failure/fighting/defiance).

Q: How long does therapy last?
The length of therapy is variable. Some people come in for short term/solution focused therapy, while others find it beneficial to continue for longer. It really depends on what your needs are. Usually, I see clients from 4 to 6 weekly sessions to start with, and then we can check in from there to see what feels right; whether to continue, or if your needs were met by those initial sessions.

Q: How often would I come in?
Most clients start weekly, especially the first few weeks. My experience is that this provides the best momentum for creating and sustaining change in their lives.

Q: What can I expect from the first session?
People usually experience a great feeling of relief in the first session from having been able to unload their burden to someone else, especially someone who will take it in without judging them, and who helps people overcome similar burdens. I want you to know that I understand that taking this first step is not always easy, and I will treat you with respect and understanding.

Q: Are you accepting new clients?
I limit my practice to 20 sessions per week so that I may bring full-attention and energy to my clients. I am currently accepting a limited number of new clients on Tuesdays.

Q: Do you do couples counseling?
Currently, I do not offer couples counseling. If you would like a recommendation for a couples therapist, please call me and I’d be happy to give you some referrals.

Testimonials:

“…I need to express my sincere gratitude to you for helping me yesterday. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sitting with me and talking me through everything. I completely felt supported, even more than I could've imagined. Releasing some of my fears and anxiety to you was easier than I thought. It's apparent I don't like talking about my feelings but I felt almost at peace afterward knowing someone else knew and tried to understand me…Thank you for supporting me and allowing me to speak freely as each new emotion flooded to the surface. Thank you for caring enough to sit with me and for waiting for me to open up on my own time. : ) Thank you a million times again!”
